Checknaut is a free WordPress plugin that audits your site and fixes what it finds. It runs seven audits (Site Health, Site QA, accessibility, performance, SEO, legal, and Design Guardian on Divi 5 sites) across every page and sums them up in a Site Score that shows its own arithmetic. Fixes the plugin can apply take one click, each with an Undo beside it. It can also act as an MCP server, so an AI assistant you connect can run the same audits and fixes.

You need WordPress 6.5 or later and PHP 8.0 or later, on any theme. Download the plugin zip from the free download, upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and activate it; no account, email or card is needed. Then open Checknaut → Audit and press Run full audit. Every finding the plugin can repair gets a Fix button.

Not yet. Checknaut has been submitted to the wordpress.org plugin directory and the listing is pending, so searching for it under Plugins → Add New will not find it today. Until it is listed, the download on checknautpro.com is the official copy: upload the zip under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.

No. Audits, one-click fixes and the Site Score all run inside wp-admin with no AI account, API key or credits. Connecting Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client is optional and uses your own account.

The free plugin finds and fixes: every audit and every one-click fix on every page, the Site Score, design-system adoption on Divi 5 and Elementor, legal page drafts, snapshots and revision restore, and 53 tools for your assistant. Checknaut Pro builds: page building with your assistant on Divi 5, Elementor and the block editor, fixing one cause across every page in one pass, scheduled audits, client reports branded with your name and logo, design-system authoring (fullest on Divi 5), and agency tools such as the fleet hub, tested plugin and theme updates and rollback sessions. Yes. Checknaut Pro installs beside the free plugin and needs it to be active, so both stay active. If you deactivate Pro, the free plugin keeps working exactly as before and nothing is deleted.

Solo is $99 a year for 1 site, Pro is $249 a year for 5 sites, Agency is $699 a year for 20 sites, and Studio is $1,299 a year for 50 sites. Billed monthly, they are $9.99, $29, $69 and $129 a month. The paid plans have the same features and differ only in how many sites one key activates. The free plugin works on any number of sites.

Freemius emails your licence key when payment clears. Paste it under Checknaut → Checknaut Pro in wp-admin on each site; the same key activates every site in your plan. When a site retires, release its seat from the same panel and use it on the next site. Deleting Pro from a site also releases its seat.

Payments, invoices, VAT and refunds are handled by Freemius as Merchant of Record, which takes cards through Stripe and also accepts PayPal. Plans renew automatically at the same price until you cancel, and annual plans get a reminder email about 30 days before renewal. Cancel any time from your Freemius customer portal; the licence keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.

Every paid plan has a 7-day money-back guarantee: a full refund within 7 days of purchase, for any reason, no questions asked. Renewal payments and plan upgrades are not covered by the 7-day guarantee. To ask, email support@checknautpro.com from the address you bought with, or choose Request refund in your customer portal. When a licence ends, Pro tools stop answering, but every audit, fix, snapshot and journal entry stays on the site and the free plugin keeps running. Details are on the refund policy.

Checknaut is also a remote MCP server. Add its connector URL to Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client, and your assistant can run the same audits and fixes and read your site's design system. The plugin never calls an AI provider itself: your assistant calls your site, on your own account, and every call is logged with the client's name.

In wp-admin, open Checknaut → Connection, copy the connector URL and add it as a custom connector in your assistant. Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1, or a key you can rotate. If anything refuses, Diagnostics → Self-test checks the connection. Not every Claude or ChatGPT plan can add custom connectors, so check what yours supports first. Checknaut has no credits, wallet or AI fee, and the plugin never contacts Anthropic, OpenAI or any other AI provider on its own. When your assistant reads or edits your site, that content passes between your server and your AI provider under your agreement with that provider. If a site holds content you would not paste into an AI chat, do not connect an assistant to it.

It gets 53 tools: the audits, the one-click fixes, site reads (setup, menus, forms, media, broken links), legal page drafts, snapshots and revision restore. Building or restructuring pages needs Checknaut Pro. Two things have no tool on purpose: adopting a design system and waiving a finding are done by a person in wp-admin.

Safety switches decide what it may write: read-only, draft-only, confirm-overwrite and protect the design system. A conversation can only tighten these switches; loosening them is done in wp-admin. A switch in the admin bar pauses every AI connection at once, and you can switch off individual tools or rotate the key on the Connection screen.

No. It writes only when you click Fix, or when you have enabled writes for your assistant and ask it to. Every write keeps the prior content. For a new setup, try it on staging first, with writes off until you are ready.

Every fix is journaled with an Undo beside it, and a WordPress revision or a saved copy stands behind every page write. Undo refuses if the value was changed after the fix, so it never throws away a later edit. Design-system writes are snapshotted first, and Checknaut Pro adds rollback sessions that put back a whole stretch of an assistant's page and design-system changes in one step. These are conveniences, not backups, so keep independent backups on.

No. Fixes are written into your database at the source of the problem, and nothing is detected about your visitors. The front end only gets what you switch on or a repair you applied needs, such as a skip link, a viewport fix, structured data, SEO meta tags when no SEO plugin is active and, on Divi, the CSS variables for your design tokens. It adds no JavaScript unless you switch on the optional Motion framework in Settings.

No. The audits are automated static analysis: a floor, not a certification of ADA, WCAG, GDPR or any other law, and not legal advice. Each audit states what it cannot see. The legal pages it creates are drafts to review with a lawyer, and it never publishes them.

Audits, fixes and scores run on your own server, and their results stay in your database. The free plugin contains no licensing code and never contacts Abcreative or Freemius. Some checks make outbound requests when they run: the link checker fetches the URLs your pages link to, the mail checks look up your domain's DNS records, Site Health asks rdap.org for your domain's registration record, and the plugin-health check asks wordpress.org about your installed plugins. If you save a Hostinger API token, it also asks Hostinger to purge your edge cache after a write. Checknaut Pro contacts Freemius for licensing and updates, plus services you set up yourself: a screenshot service, Pexels and Pixabay, WordPress.org for tested updates, and your fleet sites. The privacy policy lists each one.

The Site history records sign-ins, user, plugin and content changes, and assistant calls, with the username and a shortened IP address. It stays in your own database and is deleted after the retention period you set. Deleting the plugin removes its data, unless another copy of the plugin is still installed.

Audits run on any theme and any builder. Three builders are written: Divi 5, Elementor and the block editor. Other builders, such as Bricks, Beaver Builder, Breakdance, Oxygen and WPBakery, are detected by name, audited from the rendered page and refused for writes rather than guessed at. Page building with your assistant (Pro) works on the three written builders; Theme Builder and loop tools work on Divi 5 and Elementor Pro, WooCommerce store pages on Divi 5, and design-system authoring is fullest on Divi 5.

Divi 4 sites get the audits, Site Health and a rescue scan. The rescue scan classifies up to 300 pages (Divi 4 shortcodes, classic content, shortcodes left by removed plugins) and returns an ordered upgrade plan. Page building needs Divi 5.

Yes. When it fixes an SEO title or meta description, it writes into Yoast SEO, Rank Math or SEOPress if one is active. With no SEO plugin, Checknaut prints the tags itself.

Checknaut starts as a site auditor: its seven audits and one-click fixes run in wp-admin with no AI account, and connecting an assistant is optional and uses your own account. Every fix is journaled with an undo, and it writes to three builders only, refusing the rest rather than guessing. Other tools lead in places: Novamira Pro and Respira write to more builders, Respira says its edits stay undoable for 90 days, Divi Connect builds pages from Figma designs, and the Divi AI Agent builds from a screenshot, which Checknaut does not. The wordpress.org plugin directory does not allow "WP" in a plugin's name or slug, so 5.0.0 dropped it, and 6.0.0 renamed the plugin again, to Checknaut, after a trademark conflict. The add-on is Checknaut Pro. WordPress treats a renamed folder as a different plugin, so an older install does not update itself into Checknaut: install Checknaut yourself.

Install Checknaut from the download and activate it, then deactivate the old plugin (its folder is basestation, or wp-basestation before 5.0.0) and delete it. Settings, the connector address and key, OAuth clients, history, snapshots and reports carry over, so no assistant needs reconnecting. Deleting the old plugin does not remove that data.

Pro 6.0.0 stays switched off until Checknaut is active, and its notice says the free plugin has moved, with an Install Checknaut button. While the wordpress.org listing is pending, that button installs Checknaut from its official download after checking it against the published checksum, then offers Activate Checknaut. Your licence, settings, connector and history carry over.
